This is My Story

I’m Cherie Carroll, a qualified personal trainer with a passion for providing quality fitness advice and training for women of all ages in the Derby area and this page is a little bit about me and how I became a personal trainer

My interest in sport began early on, when I was fortunate enough to represent my county as an 800 metres athletics runner. I went on to train with the UK athletics team at Loughborough University, one of the top sports universities in Britain.

Although I maintained an active interest in fitness and sports, I completed a degree in Dentistry and in doing so fulfilled a long-term dream. It was only when I undertook personal training sessions myself that I realised my true passion lay in the sport and fitness arena.

My Experience and Qualifications

As a result I went back to studying, and two years ago graduated as a fully-qualified fitness instructor with a Diploma in both Level 2 and Level 3 Personal Training. I am also registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) in line with industry regulations, and am qualified to administer first aid and CPR, although it’s every trainer’s hope that those skills are never needed!

Since qualifying I’ve focused my energies and experience on working exclusively with women to provide precise, personalised exercise plans that incorporate all aspects of feminine healthcare and fitness, from the subtle differences in physiognomy to the vitamin, mineral and calorie requirements for women. I also account for the psychological needs of female clients, offering support, guidance and encouragement where needed.

I mostly work on a one-to-one basis with clients at my private fitness studio at Darley Abbey. There is a complete range of state-of-the-art gym equipment including fitness machines to give you a full body workout, as well as a free weights area to improve muscular and core strength, and help you tone up.
